Hi, I’m Lex!

I’m a self-taught illustrator and budding surface pattern designer living in beautiful Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

I should say I’m still self-teaching as I’m still quite new to digital art and surface design, but I am slowly building up a little portfolio (and my skills, and my confidence :P) and I’ve been able to build an everyday drawing practice again, which feels like a huge accomplishment in itself. Surface design is so magical to me, I’m learning so much all the time and there’s never a shortage of ideas that I want to chase after! I have a pretty big industry wish list and I’m excited to work with art directors and companies once I’m sure I can reliably produce high-quality work. Baby steps!

I’m super inspired by cartoons (some people say I am one) and bright bold colour palettes, but I also love nature and surroundings that soothe the eye and soul. I find myself constantly inspired by the plants, animals, architecture, history, and colours in here Kingston, so definitely keep an eye out for a collection or two based on my hometown. There are a lot of resources in Kingston that were vital to me growing up, and if I can use my art to give back to those places, especially now when they’re stretched so thin, that would mean a lot to me.

I love being able to put my designs on cool products and see them out in the world <3 I never want to sell a sub-par product so I use the best printing service I can, but I hate that it’s pricey, so please sign up for my newsletter and I’ll send out discounts and have sales whenever possible 😊
